The 1000TD features Nakamichi's Asymmetrical Diffused-Resonance Closed-Loop Dual-Capstan Transport for the lowest wow-and-flutter and modulation noise. The 0.8 micron-gap Nakamichi Crystalloy play head, together with the front panel Azimuth Fine-Tune Control, ensures flat frequency response to 22,000 Hz. Extraordinary sonic accuracy is assured by highly advanced preamplifier and power supply circuitry. The CD and AUX inputs have dedicated first-stage amplifier sections for the lowest noise and distortion. The 1000td features a unique Adaptive Control Panel for unprecedented operating convenience with CD changer control capabilities. When the CD mode is activated, the main tape function buttons retract smoothly into the cassette lid and are replaced by a CD changer control display and a disc play/pause button. This innovative solution makes it possible to provide essentially dedicated controls for the tape, CD and tuner functions without excessive panel clutter.
