Coaxial speakers have traditionally provided the benefits of simplified installation and high-efficiency for use with lower power output amplifiers. However their use can often result in a compromise to overall sound quality and stereo imaging. The new line-up of Nakamichi coaxial speakers promises to alter the perception of coaxial performance by delivering outstanding sonic performance, vehicle fitting flexibility and long-term durability.

NAKAMICHI MOBILE SPEAKER TECHNOLOGY, AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE

Manufactured from only the highest-grade parts and materials, Nakamichi's new coaxial speaker line is built to deliver musical fidelity in virtually any kind of vehicle installation. Polypropylene and aluminum vapor-deposited cones provide solid low frequency reproduction, without distortion, for great in-cabin bass response! Tweeters incorporating a cloth soft-dome deliver smooth, accurate and extended high-frequency response. Thanks to a unique swivel-mount the tweeter can be oriented towards the listener – a great advantage when installing in the factory provided speaker locations. The highest-quality Mylar capacitors and iron-core inductors are used to perform the 12dB/octave tweeter crossover eliminating any objectionable phase abnormalities. Both capacitor and inductor are mounted directly to the speaker basket allowing for the shortest signal path and eliminates the need for bulky external crossovers. A varistor-type protection circuit is provided to protect the tweeter from burnout from excessive signal levels.

Six different sizes are available: Two oval models, a 6" x 9" (SP-C692) and 5" x 7" or 6"' x 8" (SP-C572) are perfect for rear deck or in-door applications. Four round models include a 6-1/2" (SP-C652), 165mm, (SP-C165m), 5-1/4" (SP-C572) and 4" (SP-C452), most useful as direct replacement door or in-dash speakers in many models of American, Japanese and European cars.

All models come with an attractive grille cover assembly and all necessary hardware for installation.

Other Features

Optimized Cone Designs

All models feature a polypropylene cone for bass/midrange reproduction. This material which is known for its low-mass and stiffness is further reinforced with a coating of aluminum vapor. This enhanced material is capable of delivering exceptionally flat frequency response with outstanding transient characteristics and very low distortion resulting in an extremely smooth and natural, uncolored sound.

The environmental stability of aluminum vapor deposited polypropylene is extraordinary. It's virtually impervious to extreme ambient heat and humidity, a condition that's usually fatal to typical paper cone speakers. Speaker surrounds are also made from a tough synthetic rubber material impervious to high heat and moisture.

The reinforced-cloth soft-dome tweeter exhibits a smooth and extended frequency range and offers superior transient response as a result of the use of low-mass materials and precision manufacturing techniques.

High Power Handling Capacity

In order to reproduce today's digital music sources accurately, the speaker system must be able to handle a wide dynamic range. The precision designed cone surrounds and magnet structure contribute to the speaker's ability to perform exceptionally well under extreme power output conditions. Tweeter magnet structures are made of Neodyminum, a material that is 17 times more powerful than conventional ceramic ferrite. The result is a substantially smaller speaker without a compromise in quality. The midrange/woofer's synthetic rubber cone-surround material and the adhesive techniques have been greatly improved to significantly increase cone excursion, power handling and reliability. Low-viscosity Ferrofluid is employed in the tweeter assemblies so excessive heat build-up causes no problems. Additionally, a varistor is wired in series with the tweeter designed to "soak-up" excess input power, thus avoiding tweeter burnout.
